Hello! I am the founder of the American Bolivian Collective, Charlene Adams. @charlene.charlene.charlene
Thank you to everyone for your support at this time.
The American Bolivian Collective scholarship is in memory of my mother, Janett Adams, a native of the Bolivian Amazon, who was an important member of the community and my biggest support.

My great-grandmother told of slavery that happened during the rubber boom, while she lived on a rubber plantation as a child. No one ever investigated in this region of Bolivia, so it’s almost as if it never happened. Also due to classism and her status, to be “indigenous”, or “tribal”, this was a point of shame. In turn, this history is pushed down and forgotten, but it’s also why many fled deep into the jungle, and why we still have isolated tribes that escaped this madness. -Charlene
Project with NGO: Pintar en Bolivia
“On Saturday the 2nd of October 2021, a creative activity was organised by the organisation Pintar en Bolivia for the children of the village of Arque. Our expectation was to have more or less 20 children participating. However, the activity was realised with more than 60 children. The activity started with the washing of the children’s hands. With the help of two volunteers. Afterwards each child received a colouring book together with colours, a ruler and a face mask. Refreshments were also provided at the end of the activity. Together and with the help of some volunteers we read what the book was about and then the children drew and coloured, reading the book. They showed a lot of interest in the content of the book. Most of the children are Quechua speakers, with very few having reading and writing skills. It is worth mentioning that the book includes translation in Quechua language in its most important parts.”

Spanish/Quechua and English/Quechua coloring books from
An NGO that supports women & children in Bolivia. So grateful to have worked on this project.
Proud to be a part of this wonderful project with Pintar en Bolivia, an NGO out of Cochabamba Bolivia.
This coloring book is an educational COVID journey of a boy traveling from the campos to the city, to visit his older relative while being cautious of the new world around him.
The physical copies of the book will be donated to the deserving children across rural Quechua communities in Bolivia.
